M/S.PLR has carried out surveys during 2011, in Tanzania and Zambia for identifying investment opportunities in mining and allied industries. In the process the company has incorporated PLR Projects Zambia Limited at Zambia.
Zambia is an African country located in lower mid part, surrounded by Tanzania, Congo, Angola, Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Malawi, Namibia and Mozambique. The nearest port facility is Dar es salaam in Tanzania, and the mining site Mansa of Luapula province is well connected, by road having around 1900KM from the port. The capital of Zambia Lusaka is around 800KM, from Mansa with good road facility. Serenje falls on the way between Lusaka and Mansa.
PLR Projects Zambia Limited has planned to set up a Ferro Alloy Plant with a capacity of 2 X 9 MVA and a provision to expand up to 54 MVA at Serenje, Zambia. Land for establishing the plant has been acquired at pensulo village, of central province, which is 440KM from the Zambia capital Lusaka city. Required raw materials like Manganese, Quartz, Dolomite, and Coal are available locally, but Coke to be imported from Zimbabwe, a neighbouring country.
First phase of 9MVA PLR Ferro Alloy Plant is established and commercial production started in May 2017.The plant is suitable to produce Ferro silicon, Ferro manganese and Silicon manganese. Silico Manganese product is taken up initially with the product specifications of 65% Mn, 15%Si, 0.30%Phosporus, 2% carbon and 0.40%Sulphur. The product is being exported to Dubai, Japan, South Africa, Kenya, Tanzania etc.,
Construction of Second phase of Ferro Alloy plant with 10MVA capacity, is taken up and expected commercial production during 2019.
